Kuwana's actions don't better the future, they just serve to provide cartharticism through vengeance. So what Yagami was ultimately fighting for is to prevent potential needless casualties like these three. And him losing control of it all at some point? That's not a possibility, it's an eventuality. Kuwana wasn't wrong in wanting to punish these bullies but the minute he turned this into an operation that involves others, especially the vics, there is no way in hell there won't be far reaching consequences. See people never really take all these things that the game also revealed into account when they talk about siding with Kuwana's motives. And these two and Sawa-sensei won't be isolated cases either if he keeps it up. And also, Mitsuru would be without his mom either way. What he did ultimately made Kusumoto vulnerable to manipulation in the pool of political sharks she was swimming in and her enemies already have plans on what to do once they have proof that she's a murderer, and it involves her taking the fall for a scandal and going to prison for it. In both games there is at least one scene where Yagami is up against the wall and only gets out do to assistance meanwhile most of the other playable characters take on those same odds by themselves. the people he fights typically have edges over him in combat or if not that it’s usually quite difficult for him. Yeah he’s great at combat but in comparison to a lot of the other playable characters he comes off as very vulnerable. He went from being an up and coming attorney who would’ve probably been the best at it, goes on to-take a case that resulted in the death of the defendants girlfriend (and though we find out that yagami isn’t to blame for that” and his defendant really was innocent) for awhile he was basically blacklisted by anyone that didn’t know him personally. When we first see him he’s running a Agency and it’s implied and flat out stated multiple times that he’s basically broke. In fact I’ve found that him being imperfect as a character is what makes him a relatable.
